Tomb of Fateh Jung
The Tomb of Fateh Jung was constructed by the great Mughal Emperor – Shah Jahan to honor Fateh Jung for his greatness and kindness. Fateh Jung was a highly respected official and also one of the most intelligent nobles during the rule of Shah Jahan and was known for its several righteous deeds. He was also related by birth to the blue blooded royals – Khanzada rulers in Alwar.
Shah Jahan had a very keen interest in Mughal architecture. Therefore, during his reign, he constructed several monuments, forts and palaces, which were a perfect blend of Rajput and Mughal design and architecture. Tomb of Fateh Jung in Alwar is one of the finest specimens of his work, which is complete with domes, high minarets and stunning high quality sandstones.
The five storied tomb has a wonderful structure that bypasses all the other contemporary monuments ever built in the state. The exteriors include a huge dome shaped structure, which showcases the talent and skills of the expert craftsmen during that time. However, if you think the exteriors are breathtaking then the interiors will further enthrall you. The miniature designs and paintings on the ceiling and walls of the tomb are definitely a treat to the eye. The lush gardens surrounding the tomb further enhance the beauty of the monument. There is also a school located near to the tomb.
