Jai Samand Lake

Another popular lake about six kilometers from Alwar in the Indian state of Rajasthan, Jai Samand Lake is one of the biggest artificial lakes in the country. Even though it is not as beautiful and well maintained as the famous Siliserh Lake, this lake has still become one of the most popular spots for picnics and family outings among both tourists and locals on the way to Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary and Siliserh Lake. Moreover, the district administration authorities and Rajasthan tourist authorities have provided many facilities and amenities on the banks of this lake for the enjoyment of the visitors.

History of Jai Samand Lake

Built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the year 1910, Jai Samand Lake was constructed with the sole purpose of meeting drinking water requirements of the kings’ subjects. It was built to store the waters of Ruparel River, which would be used during the dry summer months or during drought days. Jai Samand Lake is a prime example of the kindness of the rulers of that time.
